Marty Sutter co-founded EW Healthcare Partners (originally called Essex Woodlands) in 1985 and has been instrumental in building EW’s growth equity investment practice since its beginning. Mr. Sutter serves as Chairman of the Investment Committees of Fund 1 and Fund 2 and will serve in the same role on the Investment Committee of Fund 3. Mr. Sutter has been directly involved with more than 30 EW portfolio companies. He has led and served on the Boards of Directors of several EW growth equity investments including Abiomed, ATS Medical (acquired by Medtronic), BioForm Medical (acquired by Merz GmbH), and LifeCell (acquired by Kinetic Concepts). Mr. Sutter currently serves on the Board of Directors of EW portfolio companies Bioventus, Prolacta, and MiMedx. In addition to the portfolio company boards, Mr. Sutter formerly served on the Board of Trustees of The Culinary Institute of America and was the past Chairman of The Texas Lyceum. Mr. Sutter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston.
