Bio

Can is Managing Partner of EMEA Capital. In addition, between Janaury 2015 and September 2015, Can has helped his former colleagues and friends during the start up process of GemCorp, an Asset Management firm investing in Emerging Markets, as senior portfolio manager. Before joining EMEA Capital in 2013, Can was Global Co-Head of Emerging Markets Trading at UBS for three years, with responsibility over all rates, credit and foreign exchange products in Latin America, Central/Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. He was a member of the Global Executive Committee for UBS’ Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities division. Can moved to UBS in 2010 from Merrill Lynch, where he spent three years as Managing Director and ran Emerging Markets Trading for Central/Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to that, Can spent 11 years in London and Tokyo with Goldman Sachs. He held a variety of buy-side and sell-side trading roles during his time there, including Head of Capital Structure Trading, Head of Credit and Convertibles Trading for Asia, Japan and Australia and Head of Illiquid Credit Trading. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 on the London Credit Trading desk and was promoted to Managing Director in 2001. Can started his trading career in 1993 at Morgan Stanley’s Derivative Products Group in New York. Can holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering as well as a Master of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
