Hem is an accomplished executive and investment professional with deep experiences across several industries, geographies and functions through plant operations, corporate, investment banking and research roles. He has a distinguished track-record of generating significant value and operational excellence while leading diverse stakeholders on strategic and operational initiatives touching all aspects of the business. Hem has been consistently recognized for his business acumen, strategy, execution and leadership skills across multiple platforms. Prior to founding ClearVision Equity Partners, Hem acted as the Interim CEO of HealthLift, a healthcare efficiency start-up, and worked closely with its founder to refine HealthLift’s business model, strategy and execution roadmap. Before HealthLift, Hem was Vice President of Strategy & Transformation at Mitchell International – a KKR private equity portfolio company and a leading cost-containment solutions provider to the property & casualty insurance industry in North America. At Mitchell, he helped establish the company’s corporate development function and led numerous mergers & acquisitions initiatives, including the purchase of five businesses ($200+ million in aggregate enterprise value) to support Mitchell’s expansion into new markets and products. He was also instrumental in the post-merger integration and transformation of these new acquisitions to enable their full growth and margin potential realization. Additionally, he was part of the core team that helped Aurora Capital sell Mitchell to KKR for over $1.1 billion in 2013. At Mitchell, Hem played a key role on numerous enterprise-wide transformation and productivity initiatives including KKR’s 100 Day Plan, business process outsourcing, real-estate portfolio management, benefits redesign and optimization, and travel spend management. These top-line and bottom-line actions netted over $30 million in new annual operating profit. In addition, Hem created Mitchell’s corporate strategic sourcing function and optimized over $100 million of third party spend, saving $10 million in annual costs. Prior to Mitchell, Hem worked on Wall Street as an investment banker with Deutsche Bank where he advised corporate executives and private investors on strategic acquisitions, divestitures and capital market activities. Earlier in his career, Hem worked in revenue management at United Airlines where he helped design a state-of-the-art demand forecasting solution for United’s global network. Prior to United, he worked in industrial engineering and operations at the Kansas City, KS plant for ConAgra Foods, one of the world’s largest food processing companies. He co-led the financial and operational turnaround of the consistently loss-making plant by increasing productivity by 85% in just 30 months. He also did extensive software coding, developed software products and wrote complex maths algorithms for large-scale business problems in his early days. Hem has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Industrial Engineering from University of Illinois and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He currently serves on the Boards of ClearPath ADM, Doctible, Tourmaline Labs and Zesty.io and is a Board Advisor to General Forensics. Hem loves to travel, run, read and spend time with his family.
