Bio

Stephen is a seasoned c-suite executive, board director and Chairperson with deep experience in the Marketing Technology space. Over 35 years he has operated in start-ups, scale-ups, and mature private and public companies, including some backed by private equity. Stephen started his career at PwC, becoming a qualified accountant, after which he moved in-house in various finance roles. His first CFO role was at DoubleClick, which he led through its IPO. Stephen then took his first CEO role at Juris, a legal software business, which he led to its acquisition by LexisNexis. He then became CEO of Bazaarvoice, an enhanced shopper experience platform, taking it through IPO, before joining Quantcast, an audience measurement and programmatic advertising platform, ultimately becoming its President. Subsequently, Stephen joined Monetate, a leading marketing personalisation platform for e-commerce brands, as CEO leading it to its acquisition by Kibo, a Vista Private Equity portfolio company. He has since taken on various non-executive roles, including becoming the Chair of Wunderkind, a leading provider of scaled but personalised marketing content, and a non-executive director of walled-garden advertising solution, Skai.io. Stephen is a US national, resident in North Carolina, as well as a Europhile and serious road cyclist. He is Chair and non-executive director of Phrasee.
