Bio

Marco Capello is the Founder and Managing Partner of Bluegem Capital Partners LLP, a pan-European private equity fund specialising in consumer brands. Since inception, Bluegem has made fourteen investments over two funds totalling over €550 million. Bluegem’s Fund I delivered returns in the top 10% of first-time funds for its vintage worldwide. Marco is Chairman of Liberty and Digitalgo, and a Board Member of The Private Clinic, Lateral, Management Consulting Group, Enotria&Coe, Dr Vranjes, Big Fernand, QMS Medicosmetics and UFI Filters. From 2002 to 2006, Marco was a Managing Director of Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, executing transactions in Europe with a cumulative equity investment of approximately €650 million and delivering returns at the very top of the industry. Marco started his professional career in Investment Banking where he worked for over 18 years at Credit Suisse First Boston, Wasserstein Perella and, from 1994, at Merrill Lynch. During his career in Investment Banking, Marco worked primarily in mergers & acquisitions both in New York and London. Key deals include the sale of Alfa Romeo, the acquisition of the Selenia Elsag group, the privatisation of SME, the sale of Omnitel to Vodafone, the creation of Agusta Westland and the privatisation of Enel. While at Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, Marco worked on the acquisition and sale of Spirit and Debenhams and the acquisition of Rexel and Necta Vending. Marco holds an MBA from Columbia University, New York and a Masters in Civil Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy.
