Prior to joining Axxon as a Partner in 2001, Mr. Carvalho spent seven years in the mergers & acquisitions divisions of two Brazilian investment banks, Banco Pactual and Banco BBA. At both, Mr. Carvalho was responsible for deal origination, negotiation, and client relationship management. His assignments, which were primarily focused on mid-to-large companies, included buy and sell side advisory services to various local and international companies across a range of sectors, including chemicals, food products, and retailing, in transactions ranging from $50 million to $1 billion. Prior to his investment banking career, Mr. Carvalho held engineering and operating roles at Pirelli Cabos Brasil, one of the leading tire and cable manufacturers in Brazil and at Dacarto S/A Ind. Plásticos, one of the largest PVC compounds manufacturers in South America. Mr. Carvalho has served on the board of directors of Guerra, Instalarme, Lupatech, Macroplast, and Vetbrands. Mr. Carvalho holds an MBA in Finance from Duke University, an Industrial Management post-graduate degree from the University of São Paulo, and a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of São Paulo. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.
