Bio

John brings more than 30 years of experience and a proven history in strategy, marketing and product management in technology businesses ranging from Fortune 500 to tech startups. Most recently, he was head of strategy and marketing for Cypher, a machine-learning start-up using deep neural network technology to isolate speech from noise for real-time and speech recognition applications. Cypher was sold to Cirrus Logic in 2017. Before Cypher, he was VP of marketing at Verve, a division of MASCO, and maker of energy-saving wireless automation products. He developed strategy, roadmap, and processes to drive revenue from $3M in 2010 to $15M in 2011. Verve was successfully spun-out from MASCO to Zeno Controls in 2012. Prior to that, John served as SVP of marketing at Cymphonix, a secure Web gateway start-up where he developed plans to drive revenue from $6M in 2009 to $10M in 2010 targeting SMB and ME markets. John was vice president of marketing for Control4, a home automation start-up. There he built product management and marketing teams that led to revenue growth from $8M in 2005 to $57M in 2008. Prior to Control4, John was part of 3Com’s management team where he ran product lines ranging from IP telephony, LAN and wireless, Bluetooth, remote access, and IPSEC products. He has served on the EnOcean Alliance Board as the marketing chair for the ZigBee Alliance and on the board of Cymphonix. John holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Duke University.
