Bio

Katie joined Altas Partners as Chair in 2019 after serving as a member of the Altas Advisory Board for four years. She also served on the board of MyEyeDr., an Altas portfolio company, until its sale in 2019. Katie is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. During her 24-year career with Four Seasons, she held a number of senior leadership roles and was instrumental in building its global brand and international portfolio of luxury properties. Katie is Chair of the Board of the Royal Bank of Canada, a Trustee of the Hospital for Sick Children (and co-Chair of the hospital’s $1.3 billion Capital Campaign), Vice-Chair of the Adecco Group of Zurich and a Director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Air Canada. Katie has been the recipient of the Schulich School of Business Award for Outstanding Executive Leadership and the inaugural Medal for Career Achievement from the Hennick Centre for Business and Law at York University. She has been inducted into the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends as well as the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Hall of Fame, and has been the recipient of the Governance Professionals of Canada Peter Dey Governance Achievement Award. She is a Fellow of both the Institute of Corporate Directors in Canada and of the National Association of Corporate Directors in the U.S. Katie is a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s National Council, where she co-chairs the Human Capital Policy Council. She also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business and the Principal’s International Advisory Board at McGill University. Katie holds a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto. In addition, Katie was awarded Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Toronto, McGill University, York University, and Trent University, an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Mount Saint Vincent University, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Huron College at the University of Western Ontario.
