Bio

Ann Thornton Field handles a wide range of litigation, including matters involving mass torts, products liability, aviation, and business disputes. She has tried numerous cases to verdict both in Philadelphia’s notorious state court system and the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Missouri and Georgia, to name a few. She has appeared in cases as trial counsel in numerous other matters throughout the U.S., from Oregon to Florida, and the U.K. Ms. Field served as national coordinating counsel in a mass-tort, product liability matter involving over 14,000 cases. As part of that team, she led a discovery team that was involved in extensive e-discovery productions and depositions in multiple jurisdictions including a multi-district litigation. Additionally, she served as a lead trial counsel in a case that resulted in a defense verdict for her client. Ms. Field tried numerous aviation cases to defense verdicts in Philadelphia, PA on behalf of aircraft manufacturers, pilots, airports and airlines. She successfully tried cases in Georgia related to catastrophic property damage claims. Ms. Field has tried commercial cases in Arkansas and Philadelphia to verdicts in the clients’ favor. As a result of one of Ms. Field’s trial successes, her accomplishments were honored, in 2017, as one of the Top Ten Most Impressive Defense Verdicts in the country by Courtroom View Network. Ms. Field's aviation practice has covered the full scope of the aviation industry, including aircraft and component part manufacturers, fixed base operators, airlines, municipal airport owners and operators, industrial aircraft owners and the estates of persons injured in aircraft accidents. Ms. Field served as the Eastern District of Pennsylvania representative to the Third Circuit Lawyers Advisors Committee and as Chair of the Board of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Federal Court’s Historical Society. She is involved in her local community where she served as Chair of the Board of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania; is on the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Police Foundation; is former Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Federal Courts Committee; and is on the Temple University Fox School of Business Board of Visitors. Nationally, Ms. Field is a Trustee of the National Judicial College, is on the Board of the International Aviation Woman’s Association, and is a member of the Samford University board of Overseers. She is a frequent speaker on issues related to trial tactics across the country.
