Laz is joining the Yorktown investment team concurrently with the formation of Yorktown XIII. He has more than 20 years of M&A and capital markets advisory experience for resource, chemicals and industrial companies with more than $25 billion of transactions completed. He is the principal investment manager of Weston Energy, a Yorktown Partners portfolio company with investments in energy minerals assets, and executive chairman of TSE-listed Battery Mineral Resources Corporation, a Yorktown XI investment. He was previously a partner of Traxys Capital Partners, a private equity firm backed by The Carlyle Group. Laz was also previously head of North American advisory for materials and mining for BNP Paribas, a partner with Hill Street Capital and an M&A analyst for Morgan Stanley. Laz graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa from Amherst College in Massachusetts majoring in economics and history.
