Guido Funes Nova Bio

Guido Funes Nova is a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group. Mr. Funes Nova focuses on private equity investments in the energy space (oil and gas in particular) and is a member of the Carlyle International Energy Partners investment team. He is based in London. Before moving to London, Mr. Funes Nova was based in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he focused on private equity investments in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to that, Mr. Funes Nova was based in Milan, Italy, where he worked on European buyout opportunities. Since joining Carlyle in 1999, he has been involved in several investments, including those in Neptune (onshore and offshore oil and gas production), Assala (onshore oil production), HES International (liquid and dry bulk storage), Discover (offshore oil and gas exploration), J&J Africa (logistics), Export Trading Group (agricultural commodities trading), CommScope (communications infrastructure equipment), Avio (aero engine components), Riello (residential heating equipment) and Tecnoforge (fittings for the oil and gas industry). Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Funes Nova was a Financial Analyst at Salomon Smith Barney in London in the M&A and Financial Sponsors groups. Mr. Funes Nova has a cum laude degree in business administration from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi of Milan and attended part of his studies at University of Michigan’s School of Business.
