James Johnson Bio

After growing up outside of Chatham Ontario, Jamie attended the University of Windsor and completed his undergraduate degree in business (B.Comm.) and upon graduation was provided with a scholarship to complete the joint MBA-JD program at the university. Jamie has acquired over 100 private companies during his career and has built many of them into significant enterprises in size and value. Jamie was part of the senior executive team which built the world’s second largest non-bank lender in the 1990s with over $23 billion in assets under management at the time. Prior to co-founding Signal Hill Equity Partners, he was a partner at a nationally recognized private equity fund. Jamie has successfully completed a number of high profile, public and private corporate restructurings, as well as overseen four successful IPOs so far. As the CEO and Co-founder of Signal Hill Equity Partners, Jamie oversees the investment process and the management of Signal Hill’s portfolio. He manages the origination and vetting of all transactions and serves both, on the Board of Signal Hill and its portfolio companies.
