Craig Smith Bio

Craig Smith is president, chief executive officer and chief investment officer at PPM America, Inc. (PPM). In this role, he is responsible for PPM’s strategy and day-to-day operations. Craig and his leadership team set and execute key growth initiatives for the firm. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the private equity strategy on behalf of investors globally. Craig has been serving in a CIO capacity since 2015. Prior to joining PPM in 2006, Craig was a vice president and senior portfolio manager at Loomis Sayles & Co., where he managed core and core plus bond portfolios for institutional clients. Previously, he held various engineering and management positions with AC Rochester Division (now Aptiv) of General Motors Corporation. Craig earned both a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is a CFA® charterholder.
