Monica King is the CEO of Gun Lake Investments. With an extensive operations and finance background, Monica has over 20 years of experience with companies of various size and industry, particularly with business acquisitions, integrations, and infrastructure development. After spending a significant amount of her career in various management roles with Fortune 500 companies, Monica established and operated her own business advisory firm focused on small business growth and stabilization. Through this work she engaged with a larger consulting firm, DWH, LLC, where she eventually joined and remained for several years, soon becoming an owner, partner, and Chief Operating Officer, and spent the last few years of her DWH tenure as the firm’s CEO and Managing Partner. Monica was responsible for the firm’s growth and direction, and notably expanded their capabilities and brand beyond turnaround and restructuring to include growth, M&A, and succession support, also launching the firm’s Tribal consulting practice early 2018 shortly after majority interests of the firm were acquired by a client, a local Tribal economic development company. It was through leadership of the Tribal consulting practice that led Monica to a strong relationship with GLI as a consultant for three years prior to joining the team as interim CEO in July of 2021, and permanently in January of 2022. Monica is passionate about advancing Tribal sovereignty and sustainability through economic development and loves serving amongst the people first culture of GLI and the Gun Lake Tribe. Monica currently resides near Kalamazoo, Michigan with her husband, two children and pets. She enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and is also quite active with community service and healthcare advocacy, serving the Michigan Junior Achievement Board and several other councils and committees for Bronson Healthcare Group. Monica’s experiences and volunteer work in healthcare has also led to several speaking engagements with various organizations across the country and internationally.
