Zane Markowitz is a Senior Managing Director of McLean, Markowitz & McNaughton (M|M|M), The McLean Group’s Commercial Due Diligence and Buy-Side Acquisition Search Services Division. Mr. Markowitz has nearly four decades’ buy-side acquisition search and competitive analysis experience. M|M|M’s market and company due diligence services are rooted in facts derived from primary, proprietary research in the engagement arena. These external assessments provide: competitor profiles, market intelligence and trends reports, and customer opinion reports. The proper mix and analysis of these reports provides clients the unique insights and facts required to drive acquisition decision-making, solve pressing business development matters and/or independently benchmark a current portfolio company vs. competitors. M|M|M’s buy-side search services help clients create and manage strategic acquisition deal flow while undertaking the required market and company due diligence to ensure the best possible acquisitions are transacted. Mr. Markowitz combined competitor profiles, market intelligence and trends, and customer opinions to help clients understand countervailing forces to make better acquisition decisions, while better managing businesses they already owned. A pioneer with substantial experience in retained buy-side acquisition search and commercial due diligence, Mr. Markowitz created and built two firms that together generated 100+ retained buy-side acquisitions and 2,000+ market and company due diligence studies. Previously, Mr. Markowitz worked at H.J. Brown International, eventually becoming president as the firm was re-named Harlan Brown & Markowitz, Inc. In 1982, Mr. Markowitz and Steve McNaughton formed Markowitz & McNaughton, Inc., growing the firm to more than 90 employees serving such clients as GE, Kraft, AT&T, Master Card, 3M, Northrop Grumman, Lilly, Honeywell, Thiokol, Air Products, Hallmark Cards, Rexam, Caterpillar, Case and The Jordan Company, among numerous others. Markowitz & McNaughton, Inc. was acquired in 2002 by a London Stock Exchange listed firm. In 2008 Mr. Markowitz and Mr. McNaughton founded McLean, Markowitz & McNaughton (M|M|M) in partnership with The McLean Group, LLC. Mr. Markowitz is a frequent author and guest speaker on M&A and food industry topics. He has spoken at such industry events as The Institute of Food Technologies’ Food Executive Leadership Forum, The Kellogg Business School’s Merger Week, The Young Presidents’ Organization, The Association for Strategic Planning, Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) and other business analysis forums.
