Bio

Xuong Liu is a Managing Director and the Transaction Advisory Group Asia Practice Leader. He specializes in leading both buy-side and sell-side financial accounting due diligence projects for private equity sponsors and multinational companies seeking to make investments in China and the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Liu has significant experience in a broad range of sectors including industrial markets, consumer products, retail, healthcare, technology, media, telecommunications and real estate. Over the past nine years, he Mr. Liu has accumulated extensive knowledge of the issues facing inbound investments into China. He has assisted numerous companies including: Morgan Stanley Private Equity, CVC, KKR, MBK Partners, Hertz, QVC, Lotte and Hillenbrand. Mr. Liu has a wide-range of cross-border experience which includes transactions in the U.S., U.K., France, Korea and Taiwan. Before joining A&M, he was a transaction advisory partner with KPMG for four years. During his nine years there, he worked on a number of high profile and landmark transactions, including: Morgan Stanley Private Equity’s investments in Sihuan Pharmaceuticals, the largest domestic maker of cardiovascular drugs, and Xinda XD Plastics, a leading PRC manufacturer of modified plastics used in the auto industry. His other engagements included work on: The Carlyle Group’s investment into C.P. Pokphand, one of the largest animal feed producers in the PRC; C.V. Starr’s investment in Changfeng Axle, a maker of truck axles in Fujian province, China; Hertz’s investment into China Auto Rental Holdings, the leading car rental company in China; and Johnson & Johnson’s acquisition of Elsker, the number one domestic manufacturer and distributor of mother and infant skin care products. In addition, Mr. Liu worked on Croda PLC’s majority investment into specialty derivatives maker Sichuan Sipo Chemical; a global private equity firm’s proposed investment in a Hong Kong-listed beverage distributor in China; and a U.S. boutique investment bank’s due diligence of a PRC juice maker and distributor in northern China. Mr. Liu earned a bachelor of science degree in economics and accounting from the University of Bristol. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has been based in China since 2004.
