Jun Usami Bio

Jun Usami is the Executive Partner of Tokyo office of the Firm and head of White & Case's Corporate/M&A practice in Tokyo. A recognised leader in the Japanese market, his work spans all areas of corporate practice, including M&A, private equity, management buyouts (MBOs), leveraged buyouts (LBOs), strategic alliances and joint ventures. He has developed a strong track record in cross-border work, from mid-market to large, complex deals, and has also helped domestic clients to implement global compliance and incentive plans. He has represented clients in a number of industries including industrial, automotive, TMT (telecommunications, media and technology), finance, retail and food and beverage business. Jun is widely regarded as one of the very top M&A lawyers in the Japan legal market and listed as a leading lawyer for M&A in Japan in Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific, Asia Pacific Legal, IFLR 1000 and The Best Lawyers in Japan. Chambers reports that "the client endorses his 'excellent legal analytical skill set,' adding that "he provides solution-oriented services and is very client service-focused."' He was selected for Japan's top 100 lawyers in 2023 by Asia Business Law Journal. Educated in Tokyo and Washington, Jun is fluent in both English and his native language of Japanese.
