Phil Thompson Bio

Phil Thompson is a founding Partner of White & Black. He qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has specialised in technology and commercial law ever since. His clients include Interactive Intelligence, Virgin Active, Vina Concha Y Toro, Teknos, Amica Wronki and Pritchard Spray Technology. Phil is ranked as a Leading Individual for IT and Telecommunications in the Legal 500, 2023 rankings. Phil regularly advises clients on the licensing of software and IT hardware, Cloud Computing, Voice & Data Communications, Managed Communications & ERP Solutions, R&D collaborations (advising both Universities and the organisations partnering with them), outsourcing and data protection issues. Phil has also worked in-house on secondment at an AIM-listed software business and at a pan-European print management company. He is a member of the International Bar Association and attends the IBA annual conferences. He is also the partner responsible for developing White & Black’s network of approved associate firms in other jurisdictions. Phil says that he owes his straightforward approach to life’s challenges to his Dad: give everything your best, don’t be afraid to ask for advice but listen carefully so you only have to ask for it once.
