Jim O’Hare is a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group serving as a trusted adviser to companies, management teams, investors and boards of directors. With over 35 years of experience, Jim has served clients as an AmLaw 100 law partner, a public company general counsel and an investment banker. This breadth of experience makes Jim a valued resource for businesses and investors across each stage of a company’s lifecycle – from emerging growth through multinational organizations. Information technology and technology-enabled services is a unifying element of Jim’s portfolio of advisory engagements. Jim regularly advises entrepreneurs and growth stage businesses in achieving their strategic goals. He operates “in the trenches” in order to push projects to a successful conclusion. His information technology and professional services background generates practical results for structuring and closing M&A transactions, technology transfer projects and strategic relationships. Jim also acts as lead counsel for clients involved in cross-border investments and acquisitions. Representative industries include: (i) software, (ii) internet and social media, (iii) edTech, (iv) blockchain and related services, (v) information technology products and services and (vi) professional services and (vii) Research and Development Services. Jim also represents investors and private equity funds, including funds of funds, in their formation, capital raising and portfolio investment activities. Jim began his technology-focused practice in 1985 with Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston and from 1996 to 2000 served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Cambridge Technology Partners, Inc., headquartered in Cambridge Massachusetts. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, at Boston College Law School and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame. He is an avid golfer and a loyal Notre Dame football fan.
