Maria Raquel Chavez Bio

Maria Raquel Chavez is a partner at Puyat Jacinto and Santos (PJS) Law and one of the lead partners of its Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate and Commercial and Environment, Energy, Social and Governance practice areas. She has extensive experience of advising leading multinational clients and strategic investors in structuring direct investments, joint ventures and other acquisitions across various industries - including the power sector, e-commerce, banking and finance, and mining. She regularly counsels foreign and domestic clients on corporate compliance and significant regulatory developments. She is likewise one of the leading partners in the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team, and has actively worked on several financing transactions, securities issuance and securitization projects. From 2003 to 2006, she was the principal legal consultant to the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) in relation to the commercial operations of the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
