Marcelo Botelho Bio

Marcelo Botelho is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in London. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions pre- and post-deal advisory, operational due diligence and Chief Financial Officer support services. His primary areas of concentration are carve-outs, integrations and finance function improvement. With more than 20 years of industry/advisory experience, Mr. Botelho has advised private equity and corporate clients on buy- and sell-side and transformation assignments across a range of industries, including consumer, life sciences, transportation and manufacturing. Mr. Botelho’s notable assignments include leading separation activities for intended divisional disposals, including rapid assessment of separation risks and potential issues, operating model review and redesign, identification of Transitional Service Agreement requirements, separation planning and implementation, separation cost assessment and one-off costs for a global consumer (tobacco), global medical products and leisure and entertainment companies. Additionally, Mr. Botelho has led early-stage carve-out red-flag assessment and full carve-out/operational due diligence for PE houses/asset managers, including Bain Capital, CVC, Blackrock, GIC and Advent; led finance specialist support in regard to order to cash process improvement and cash flow forecast transformation to PE portfolio companies; and designed and implemented a new travel and expenses solution impacting 10,000+ employees across the globe, in the context of post-merger integration for a global Pharma company. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Botelho spent five years with KPMG U.K. in their M&A Deal Execution team in London. Previously, he served as CFO for shipping and manufacturing businesses for eight years, where he led acquisitions, disposals, major transformation and strategic initiatives. Mr. Botelho earned a BBA from IBMEC (Brazil) and an MBA from Westminster Business School (U.K.). He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
