Bio

Steffen Kroner is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement. He brings more than 18 years of transformation, operational performance improvement, c-suite interim management (CEO, CTO, COO, CFO) and operational due diligence experience. Mr. Kroner specializes in the design and delivery of holistic value creation programs and interim management. He has worked in Europe, the Americas and Asia with a focus on diversified industrials and packaging. Mr. Kroner’s notable recent engagements include leading operational due diligence and carve-out of Thyssenkrupp Elevator, which has €8 billion in revenue and 54,000 employees globally, and leading the operational and IT due Diligence for Bosch Packaging Technology, which has €1.3 billion revenue and ~ 6,000 employees. Previously, Mr. Kroner served as interim VP Operations (COO) Europe, Middle East & Africa for Vertiv, a large electrical assembly company with $1.3 billion in revenue and 4,500 employees, overseeing seven production sites and their supply chains and driving a large operational improvement program including several plant relocations. Mr. Kroner also developed a turnaround plan for a steel making business in Brazil; served as Chief Restructuring Advisor for Balfour Beatty Rail; and served as Deputy to the CFO in a restructuring/strategic transformation of Q-Cells, a publicly listed global solar company. Mr. Kroner was Interim CEO/CFO of a large German bakery, driving a comprehensive restructuring program; and was Interim VP Finance Europe and Chief Transformation Officer for Mactac, leading a carve-out requiring rapid implementation of treasury management/cash flow forecasting, upgrading controlling function, SKU analysis, budget preparation, working capital improvements and SG&A cost-out. He designed and led a global performance improvement program for Precision Valve packaging (valued at $300 million), focusing on new investments, footprint optimization, shop floor productivity and supply chain and significantly improving EBITDA. Mr. Kroner earned a diploma in business administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) at the University of Munich (LMU). For his thesis, he served as a research assistant at the Centre for Management Buy-Out Research (CMBOR) at the Nottingham University Business School.
